We invest our own balance sheet. We hold no client money, manage no third-party funds, and offer nothing to the public.
Queen's Road Central Capital Limited is a private investment holding company with its office at Central Plaza in Wan Chai. The capital we deploy is our own. We are not a fund, not an asset manager, not a broker, and not a lender to the public.
That is an unglamorous thing to lead with, and it is deliberate. A great many entities in this city carry names built from a street in Central and the word "capital", and a portion of them exist to persuade strangers to send money somewhere. We would rather be the page that tells you how to check than one more name that sounds reassuring.
Our name is taken from a road, as many Hong Kong companies' names are. It does not indicate our office address, our size, or any connection to any other business bearing a similar name — and neither does anyone else's.
If any person or entity — using our name, a name close to ours, or any other — approaches you with an investment, run these before you consider anything else. They cost nothing and they are the whole game.
Investing only your own money changes the arithmetic entirely. There is no redemption calendar, no quarterly letter to write and nobody to lose but ourselves. A position can be held through a period where it looks foolish, which is often the only period in which it was ever going to work.
It also removes the incentive that damages most of this industry. A manager paid on assets gathered has a reason to gather assets. We are paid by outcomes on our own capital, which is a shorter and less interesting sentence, and a better one.
The corollary is that we have nothing to sell you. If you arrived here looking to invest alongside us, the honest answer is that there is no vehicle to invest in and no arrangement we could offer you.
Described in general terms, because specific positions are nobody's business but ours and disclosing them would serve no purpose other than to look impressive.
Correspondence from counterparties, advisers and businesses is welcome. We do not respond to enquiries about investing, because there is nothing to invest in.
